My sister Emily is expecting her first child in October. My planned a baby shower for her in July in Clarinda with several of our family & friends. I planned a book-theme and had fun decorating. Each of the tables had a different book theme. Each item on the food table coordinated with a book, we used scrapbook supplies to make Emily a small scrapbook to put a photo of her little one as they grow each month, and all the guests wrote down wishes for the baby and played a game to unscramble names of popular children's books. Everyone was also asked to bring a children's book in lieu of a card so baby Spencer's library is now well stocked.

Garage Sale Fun
Tyler ran a cookie & lemonade stand during our July garage sale.
We let him spend some of his hard earned money on a new toy. His choice
of places to spend it? The gift shop at the Boone & Scenic Valley
Railroad of course! :)
Band Festival, Picnic Train & Wax Weekend
Adam played in the Boone Band Festival in July. His parents came up to see some of the bands perform. The kids & I and my parents all came to support him too. Hannah enjoyed the music & grandparent attention!
Last year Tyler's grandmothers took him on a totally spur of the moment dessert train ride the weekend after Hannah was born. It was a chance to give him some quality time out of the house doing something he totally loves! So this year they decided to try the Picnic Train and invited the grandpas along too!
He is one happily spoiled grandson!!
The other event of note that same weekend was a little mishap involving a totally forgotten about blue candle on a warming tray, cream carpet, and a freshly bathed curious 1 year-old who apparently wasn't being properly supervised. Lucily Hannah wasn't hurt, just shocked by the experience and the rush to get her PJs off and the wax washed off her skin. Hannah is fine...
The carpet & table took an entire weekend to scrape off.....
....and the pajamas are not really worth saving, but Adam thinks they are!?!
The "after" photo when Adam was done scraping all the wax off, doubt the blue will ever come out. Reason #23 for getting new carpet someday! :)

2012 Boone County Fair
Hands-on working exhibits at the fair called Fair Extravaganza. It was indoor fun on a rare morning this summer when it was actually raining. We did dodge the rain drops to run over to the story time tent to hear Mr. Z read stories about monsters, but Tyler's favorite part was playing recycled bowling for free suckers in the exhibit building!
Then we had to play in the corn boxes and get our annual photo by the corn sign.
Here is the 2012 photo.
Tyler in 2011 - not much change but a few inches!
Hannah in 2012 - refused to look at the camera!
Visiting the livestock barns was a big hit!

One Last One Year Old Party
Hannah's birthday turned into a month-long celebration! She turned 1 on June 15th, but it took until July 12th to finally get all of my family together to help her celebrate - one month later, but she didn't mind one bit. Tyler on the other hand was having a bit of birthday envy by this point!
Hannah's great grandparents, Ardelle & Lowell Geer, even drove up to celebrate with her.
Grandma Janelle & Grandpa Howie watching her eat cake.
