Center Grove Orchard

I was very excited last year when a new MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group started in Boone, meeting the 1st and 3rd Monday nights. Two of my friends started attending with me, they have volunteers to watch the kids, and the Moms get some time for a devotion, usually a speaker comes to talk to us, a craft, snacks, and time to chat with other Moms. This fall we are also reading the book MomSense.

Just recently a group of mothers from Grace Church here in Boone started a group called Moms 4 Moms that meets twice a month during the day, so more focused on stay-at-home moms like me. They also have volunteers to watch the kids in 3 different age level rooms. The kids even have a sing time, crafts, and snacks in addition to play time with other kids their age. The Moms get to hear speakers, do crafts, share skillets (where we share something in which we have a skill - like scrapbooking), have a devotional and prayer requests, discuss 2 books (Ministry of Motherhood and Love & Logic for early childhood), and also eat some very yummy snacks. We did a fun mixer at our first get-together and I met a lot of amazing moms.

These 2 groups have been an answer to prayer in my life - a chance to reach out to other Moms, make new friends, have a chance for my kids to socialize, and just an opportunity to dress up and get out of the house. The reason I am explaining all this - the Moms 4 Moms group is also organizing several group outings in addition to our meetings at the church. This past Wednesday we went to the Center Grove Orchard and had a great time with our new friends and enjoyed the amazing weather.
